Seat covers will help keep your car free of mess.

Since the company's start in 2009, Uber has grown to be one of the most popular ways for people to secure transport. With just a few clicks on a smartphone, passengers can book rides that will quickly and efficiently get them where they need to go.

Uber says it has created over 15,000 jobs for Australians since 2014.

For some drivers, however, Uber is more than a means of travel, it's also a source of income. Indeed, Uber says it has created over 15,000 jobs for Australians since 2014.

That's a lot of private cars carrying strangers around, strangers that, as we're about to find out, aren't always the cleanest or most graceful. Mandatory magazine collated firsthand accounts from Uber drivers about their worst passengers. Read on to see just how messy an Uber ride can be.

1) Spilled drinks

One American Uber driver recounts a particularly messy ride, after picking up four drunk young men. After dropping them off, the driver found a can of beer in the front seat, which he quickly got rid of. Later, he was distracted by a clanking sound in his back seat.

When the driver turned around, he found an empty can of beer, the contents of which had spilled all over his car's floor and seats. He cleaned up the mess as best as he could, but the smell was hard to remove and so he had to spend the rest of the day telling passengers what had happened. Not ideal!

2) Vomit

On Confessions of An Uber Driver, another driver tells the story of a passenger who, whilst managing to throw up outside the car, did so while it was driving. As a result, the wind sent the vomit back into his and his girlfriend's face, splattering both the inside and the outside of the car. The driver then had to get the car professionally cleaned, in order to free it of the smell.

How can you avoid these messes in your car?

Accidents happen every now and then, but this doesn't mean that your car interior needs to suffer. To avoid damage from clumsy passengers much as possible, it's best to deck your car out in durable, waterproof or water-resistant car seat covers and floor mats, to protect your vehicle's upholstery.

If you're an Uber driver in Australia or New Zealand, have a look through Motoquipe's online range of car accessories and order something that will make your driving life much easier.
